The 110th winner of the 1000 Guineas, held on Friday 4th May 1923 over the Rowley Mile, was Tranquil (5/2 fav), a bay filly by Swynford out of Serenissima, owned by the 17th Earl of Derby. The winner won by 1 1/2 lengths in 1 minute 39 secs, with a length back to the third. A field of 16 runners contested the race which was worth £5,050 (Equivalent to £263,600 in 2017)
